Untitled (Crepe Myrtle)

This is my second painting inspired by the crepe myrtle tree, but at the time I didn’t even realize it.

The first painting was inspired by a tree on a golf course. This painting was inspired by a tree I often pass while taking walks through my neighborhood. I took a couple pictures for reference and then attempted to recreate the feel of the tree with thick textures and heavy dabs of paint.

The paint shimmers slightly in the light and adds another piece to the soul of this crepe myrtle tree, and the tree has overwhelmed the canvas, spilling over to the sides.
